Sustaining Roots Music (SOOTS) exists to foster an appreciation for traditional, Southern music and culture. We believe this appreciation will engage our fellow students in greater communities. We pursue the preservation of artistic wisdom to help create a more perfect world - Sustaining Roots Music/Community Project of Raleigh Charter High School At 6:30pm on Friday, April 13th, the doors of the historic LongView Center on Moore Square will open for a concert featuring Justin Robinson and the Mary Annettes, Big Ron Hunter, and Tad Walters. The benefit concert has been developed by a group of Raleigh Charter High School students who created the Sustaining Roots Music/Community Project (SOOTS) as part of the local school’s citizenship curriculum. The SOOTS project started in 2006 and held its fourth annual concert last year. In May 2010 SOOTS won a $5,000 grant from the Pepsi Refresh Project. This year's Friday night show promises to have a packed house of people from all over the Triangle. The LongView Center can seat 450.
